Biography

Alan Thoms-Chesley joined Loyola University in 2013 as an affiliate instructor teaching an introductory course in forensic science. Following a career as a bench scientist and as a high school science educator, he became an assistant teaching professor in 2021 and teaches a variety of courses in the Forensic Science Department. Dr. Thoms-Chesley is also the director of teaching effectiveness and assessment and is actively involved in curriculum development and design. He holds an interest in Investigative Genetic Genealogy as a means for solving cold cases.
