Spanish Major Ana Ilisinovic ('18) Wins Prestigious Gilman Scholarship

Loyola University Maryland student Ana Ilisinovic, ’18, was awarded a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad in Alcala de Henares, Spain for the fall 2016 semester. The $2,000 scholarship will help cover her expenses while abroad.

Originally from Cleveland, Ilisinovic is a Spanish major with a minor in secondary education. This will be her first time abroad. (More from the article by Stephanie Weaver.)

Chinese Minor

The department of Modern Languages and Literatures is pleased to announce the newly launched Chinese minor. This program focuses on improving proficiency in Chinese language and introducing Chinese literature and culture to prepare for leadership in today’s increasingly multilingual and globalizing world. It will particularly benefit students who are interested in business, government, diplomacy, education, law, technology, tourism, journalism, medicine, and other fields.  Maria Mihova, Affiliate Instructor of French

Maria's rigorous French training in Bulgaria has contributed greatly to the mastery of the language and her graduate work only enhanced her deep knowledge and understanding of the language, literature and culture. She has had previous university teaching experience and works well with and guides students in the right direction.
