The Office of Peace and Justice welcomes co-sponsor requests for speaker and other campus events. Requests are reviewed on a monthly basis by the Peace and Justice Steering Committee.
When making co-sponsorship requests, please include a brief description of how the campus event or speaker's presentation topic address at least two of the following Peace and Justice learning aims:
- Fosters understanding of the causes and consequences of violence, the systematic sources of injustice, and the inter-relationship of justice and peace
- Analyzes concrete cases of conflict from a variety of disciplinary perspectives, including political, sociological, theological, philosophical, and literary
- Identifies and analyzes mechanisms for resolving violent conflict as well as norms, practices, and institutions for building and sustaining peace
- Addresses a number of conflict resolution, peace-building, and/or justice advocacy skills as they relate to interpersonal, institutional, societal, and global contexts
For speakers, we will also take into consideration the ensemble of their professional work as it relates to peace and justice. Please also include a budget for the event, the amount requested from Peace and Justice Studies, and whether any other co-sponsors are being sought.
