The 4th annual Hope & Renewal Interfaith Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, February 3rd, 2022 at 3pm. The event will be livestreaming from this webpage with limited seating in-person in the Alumni Memorial Chapel. Our keynote speaker this year is the Reverend Dr. Van Gayton, M. Div., an Inaugural Senior Research Fellow with the Karson Institute. While in residence with the Karson Institute, Dr. Van Gayton will research European colonialism, with the hermeneutics of suspicion, critical race theory, and a Christological lens to complete his manuscript, Reimagining America Again: A Postcolonial Theology, that expands upon the ideas that Dr. King set forth in Stride Toward Freedom.
Each year on the first Thursday in February, we begin our spring semester with an Interfaith Hope and Renewal Prayer Service (H.A.R.P.S.) to serve as a blessing for our Loyola community. H.A.R.P.S. recognizes the diversity and richness of the various faith traditions represented at Loyola and in our surrounding communities. Leaders from local faith communities, faculty, staff, administrators, students and community partners all share together in prayers, readings, reflections and blessings to inspire hope and renewal in the life of our community.
