Campus Climate Survey
What is the Campus Climate Survey?
Campus climate is defined as the current attitudes, behaviors and standards of faculty, staff, administrators, and students, as well as the University's environment and policies, which influence the level of respect for individual needs, abilities, and potential. Therefore, Loyola regularly conducts a Campus Climate Survey - open to all current students, faculty, staff, and administrators - because understanding the varied experiences in our community is a critical part of continuing to improve how we work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable campus environment. For more information about the Campus Climate Survey, please see below or contact survey@loyola.edu.
2025 Loyola Campus Climate Survey Campaign
Loyola regularly administers the Campus Climate Survey, typically every six years (e.g., 2013, 2019, 2025). In 2019 and 2025, the Campus Climate Survey was developed and administered via collaboration between a Loyola Climate Survey Working Group (CSWG) and a consulting independent agency, Rankin Climate LLC. Each Campus Climate Survey's administration and research was reviewed and approved by the Loyola Institutional Review Board.
Most recently, the "Thriving Spaces: Environment for Learning, Living, and Working survey" was open to all Loyola students, faculty, staff, and adminstrators from February 4 - March 7, 2025 - via the consultant's Qualtrics account. Paper surveys were also available, upon request. While the survey cannot guarantee complete confidentiality because of the nature of multiple demographic questions, the consultant took multiple precautionary measures to enhance individual confidentiality and the de-identification of data. In the event of any publication or presentation resulting from the assessment, no personally identifiable information will be shared.
Responses will inform and support evidence-based practice, decision-making, benchmarking, and strategic planning for continuous improvement of Loyola's campus climate.
Survey Instrument
Rankin Climate LLC has administered assessments to more than 190 institutions across the nation—including Loyola in 2019—and developed a repository of tested questions. To assist in contextualizing the survey for Loyola, and to capitalize on the many assessment efforts already undertaken, a Climate Survey Working Group (CSWG) was formed. The group of Loyola faculty, staff, administrators, and students developed the survey questions - with guidance and support from Rankin Climate staff. The team reviewed selected survey questions from the consultant’s tested collection and included Loyola-specific questions.
Results
Rankin Climate analyzes, prepares, and shares a slideshow presentation and Key Findings Report. These were shared with Loyola in fall 2025. Subsequently, Rankin Climate prepared a Tableau dashboard and iterated on that with Loyola's Office of Institutional Research (OIR). It will be shared with Loyola campus members in spring 2026.
