Student Policies

Entering and using The Study requires that students have read and understand these rules, agreeing to conduct themselves accordingly. Failure to do so will result in dismissal from The Study.

  • All students entering The Study are required to present a valid Loyola ID card. If you’ve lost your card, please go to Student Administrative Services (SAS) located in Maryland Hall 140 or call 410-617-2423.
  • No food is allowed in The Study. Students eating will be asked to dispose of food and may be asked to leave.
  • Use of cellular phones in The Study is strictly prohibited. Students can leave The Study and use their phones in the lobby area; however, they will be swiped out upon leaving.
  • The Study is not to be utilized as a lounge—sleeping is prohibited, and may result in dismissal from the area.
  • Students may use The Study only during its operating hours. All students must vacate The Study when it closes for the evening. (The Study will be open for extended hours during finals week.)
  • Adaptive technology/equipment can be reserved via a graduate assistant at the front desk of The Study.
  • The Study must be used appropriately. Students found utilizing The Study for other activities such as movie watching, game playing, instant messaging, etc. will be asked to show, using their syllabi, where such activities are required by an instructor. Failure to show academic relevance of the activity will result in the student(s) being asked to find a more academically based activity to perform while in The Study or dismissal from The Study.
  • The Study is a quiet study space. Therefore, students must keep noise to a minimum so as not to disturb other students. As a guiding principle, students' voice volume is too loud if they are distracting other students. Students working in pairs or groups might be asked to reserve a study or conference room. If one is not available, you may be asked to find an alternative location on campus to work in groups.
  • Conference Rooms and Study Rooms: The Study has two conference rooms and two study rooms available that must be reserved at the front desk before students can use them.
