The Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute are seeking juniors and seniors to apply for the Summer Primate Animal Keeper Internship. This is a wonderful opportunity for interns to gain experience in the zookeeping field by participating in daily animal keeper activities, including animal husbandry, nutrition, training and visitor education. The Primate Department, which features a variety of great apes, small apes, monkeys and lemurs, is seeking applicants for consideration. The deadline for applications is March 1, 2024. Northeastern University College of Science is offering the 2024 BEACHES workshop to prepare upper-level students that are interested in environmental sciences. This workshop explores the process of graduate school applications and STEM career pathways. The program is especially geared towards students who identify with groups underrepresented in STEM fields, first generation college students, and students who do not have ready access to the graduate school pipeline. The Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute's Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpesvirus Laboratory is offering for students to apply to the EEHV Spring-Summer Internship. Interns will monitor elephants for elephant endotheliotropic herpesvirus (EEHV) in a diagnostic lab. The intern will learn how to optimize DNA preparations and qPCR assays on multiple sample types for EEHV, record results, and write brief reports from the lab. Higher Education/ Postgraduate Internships

Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge seeks for post graduate students to apply for the Animal Care Internship. The full-time internship will be in Northwest, Arkansas for the duration of six months. Interns will be able to care for and observe exotic animals independently or with a team. The deadline for the spring internship is on November 1st and the deadline for the fall internship is April 1st.
