Volunteer Work

Environmental Opportunities

  • The National Aquarium relies on over 500 volunteers each year to support their mission of inspiring conservation. Volunteers play a crucial role in every aspect of the aquarium's operations, regardless of their expertise in oceanography or animal care. As long as volunteers can commit to at least a year of weekly service, they will receive training from the expert staff. Some volunteer positions may be at capacity, limited opportunities are available. The National Aquarium encourages interested individuals to check back regularly for updates on available positions. To find out about current opportunities, please click here.
  • Marshy Point Nature Center presents a list of options for students to participate in. Participate in exploring outside to learn something new, teach others, and meet people who care about nature as much as you do. Visit here to view current volunteer and internship opportunities.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service requires volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks, including greeting tourists, teaching students, assisting maintenance workers, and doing wildlife surveys. Volunteering is more than just work; expect to meet new people and participate in social activities. To get involved, fill out a volunteer application and email Diana Ogilvie.
Volunteers may help the National Park Service conserve and defend our national parks. You can volunteer for a day or all year; on your own or with friends and family; near home or abroad. Click here to see which parks have volunteer opportunities.
