Research

Dr. Rui Wang (Ph.D., University at Buffalo) studies emerging technologies, social media, and political communication. Combining novel computational methods with quantitative approaches, her research focuses on three core areas: (1) the content, users, and effects of digital and news media in the context of identity politics and polarization; (2) the social and psychological dimensions of emerging technologies, particularly public understanding and acceptance of AI; and (3) the development and application of computational methods for social science research. Her work has appeared in journals such as Communication Research, New Media & Society, Information, Communication & Society, Social Media + Society, Journalism, Social Science Computer Review, and the International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction.
