Welcome to the Greyhound Nation! Submitting your deposit is just the first step in beginning your Loyola journey. As a new student, we know you likely have a lot of questions about what you’ll need to do to prepare for your first semester at Loyola.

The New Student Checklist below is designed to guide you through the tasks you need to complete to finish the enrollment process and begin your journey as a Greyhound. In April, you will start to receive emails from various departments with additional information about completing these important next steps. But for now, just relax and enjoy your senior year! We will be in touch soon.

Important Next Steps

COMPLETE ONLINE MATH AND LANGUAGE PLACEMENT TESTS BY MAY 31

All students should take the placement exams—even if you have AP/IB/College Credit that will satisfy core requirement. The results from these placement tests will be used during the course registration process.

COMPLETE MESSINA PREFERENCES BY MAY 31

Messina is Loyola’s first-year living learning program and students can preference at least five course pairings that they are interested in taking during their first year at Loyola. All students who complete the survey by May 31 will have an equal chance of receiving a preferred Messina course pairing.

PARTICIPATE IN SUMMER ORIENTATION

Summer Orientation is designed to assist students and families as they begin their transition to college life and Loyola. Students will have an opportunity to connect with classmates and meet with faculty, staff, and student leaders.

More information including dates will be available this spring. For questions regarding Summer Orientation, please contact the Office of Student Engagement at orientation@loyola.edu

COMPLETE HOUSING APPLICATION IN JUNE

In June, incoming first-year students will begin to complete their housing application for the 2021-2022 academic year. This process includes submitting preferences for living style as well as a chance to request a roommate.

Register with Disability Support Services (if applicable) by July 1

Incoming students with disabilities who want accommodations to live or learn at Loyola should register with Disability Support Services after June 1. Housing accommodations need to be requested by July 1.

Students are required to provide current and comprehensive documentation of their disabilities, which meets DSS guidelines.

CONSIDER REGISTERING FOR A PRE-FALL PROGRAM

Loyola's Pre-Fall Programs offer the opportunity to make early connections to Loyola and your classmates. Each of these experiences occurs prior to the start of Fall Welcome Weekend, giving you a chance to arrive to campus a few days early in August and ease into your first year at Loyola.

Note: Students may not apply/register for multiple programs

Submit your final transcript by July 15

In order to complete your admission file please arrange to have your school counseling office send us your final high school transcript no later than July 15. The transcript must come directly from your school counseling office and include your high school graduation date. It should be submitted electronically through the Common Application or by email to admission@loyola.edu.

Complete Online Educational Training by August 7

In preparation for becoming a member of the Loyola community, there are several online programs that you are required to complete prior to your arrival at Loyola. Topics include alcohol and drug education, sexual assault prevention, as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion. Information and instructions will be sent to your Loyola email address on July 1.

Students living on campus will be prohibited from checking into the residence halls until ALL online trainings are complete.

SUBMIT PHOTO FOR EVERGREEN CARD BY JULY 31

The Evergreen card is your campus ID as well as access to your residence hall, meal plan, printing and laundry services. Beginning July 13, you will receive an email with the subject “Loyola University Maryland ID Photo Submission” with instructions on how to upload your photo.

Fulfill health requirements by July 25

Additional Enrollment Steps

Verify AP/IB/College Credit

Loyola awards credit for AP, IB, and college courses if they meet the standards and requirements set by the University and its academic departments. In order to qualify for credit, students must have official scores and transcripts sent to Loyola.

ARMS forms for NCAA Varsity Student Athletes

If you plan to play intercollegiate varsity athletics, you must complete the additional health forms and information by August 1. The forms will be sent to you electronically from the athletics department.

Complete the Student Family Profile

In an effort to maintain connection with our students’ families, we ask for your cooperation in providing information that will allow us to keep your family informed about campus life. Please ask your parents or guardian to complete the Student Family Profile.
