Engagement Opportunities by Class Year

Loyola seeks to ensure transformative experiences are accessible to each student, wherever their minds and hearts lead, from the day the arrive on campus to the moment they walk across stage at Commencement to receive their diploma.

Connect with Your Class

Be sure to follow your class' official Instagram page; this is where you'll get up-to-date information on class year events and opportunities!

All students have the opportunity to run for their class' assembly through the Student Government Association (SGA). First-year assembly elections happen in the fall of their year; all other class years hold elections each spring! General election information can be found on SGA's website.

First-Year Engagement

As you will hear from many fellow students, faculty, and staff at Loyola, getting involved is one of the best ways to start your college experience. Loyola offers over 150 clubs and organizations to help you begin this process, and it's easy to start your own! Our Hound Activities and Programming Board is always putting on fun events (on and off campus!) for students to attend on weekends. Below you will find links to several departments on campus that can help in the process of getting involved at Loyola.

Sophomore Engagement

Upon reaching their sophomore year, students are typically adjusted to college life at Loyola and are ready to take some steps towards personal development and leadership.

Student Leadership Corps

This is an eight-week program designed for sophomores to level up their leadership skills. You'll meet weekly to cover a range of leadership topics, be given an upperclassman mentor, and attend a one-day retreat off campus.

Junior Engagement

Junior year is a time of exploration and experience. Whether you are studying abroad, exploring Baltimore, conducting research, or gaining experience through an internship, now is the time to apply your knowledge and reassess what you know! Make sure to take advantage of all Loyola has to offer, and find some good mentors to help guide you!

International Programs

More than 60 percent of Loyola students participate in Loyola's study abroad program, which is designed to accommodate all majors. Most students go abroad in their junior year, usually for a single semester.

Center for Community, Service, and Justice (CCSJ)

Community engagement is not just for those going abroad. The junior year is the perfect time to plant your roots within the diverse communities of Baltimore.

Senior Engagement

Ready for your last year at Loyola? Senior year brings incredible opportunities to connect with your peers, hone your leadership skills, and prepare for life after college. Take advantage of everything Loyola and Baltimore has to offer to make the most of this capstone year in your college experience.

Senior Traditions

Between Senior Kickoff, an off-campus brewery event, and a senior-only trip to an Orioles Game, there's plenty of ways to celebrate your last year at Loyola!

Life After Loyola

This pair of events (fall and spring) invites seniors to meet and have open conversations with Loyola alumni, faculty, about the realities of life after college. Topics of discussion include the graduate school search, financial readiness, building community, and more!

Bull & Oyster

Seniors are invited to join Greyhound alumni at Loyola's annual Bull & Oyster Roast, a night of dancing, good food, and memories!

Senior Week

At Loyola, the week leading up to commencement is jam-packed with events to celebrate the graduating class and their accomplishments. There's a champagne toast hosted by SGA, a night of dancing at Senior Soirée, the Alumni BBQ, Baccalaureate Mass, and finally, the Commencement ceremony itself.
