Our core values are rooted in the Ignatian tradition and reflected in everything the University does.

Beginning with their founder, St. Ignatius Loyola, the Jesuits have always had a distinctive way of looking at life. Their characteristic Ignatian worldview has been shared with hundreds of thousands of people formed by Jesuit teaching and pastoral care. Since its founding in 1852, Loyola University Maryland has adopted and adapted the characteristic emphases of the Ignatian heritage. Today, Loyola continues to preserve its religious heritage and encourages all of its constituents to cultivate and to live by these core values:

Academic Excellence
Community
Constant Challenge to Improve
Discernment
Diversity
Focus on the Whole Person
Integrity and Honesty
Justice
Leadership
Service
