Alumni Profile - Sarah Hill, '00

Learn By Doing

Sarah's initial plan was to go to law school. To that end, she obtained several internships while she was at Loyola, working for the Coalition to End Childhood Lead Poisoning, the Maryland Department of the Environment, and the Homeless Persons' Representation Project.

Volunteering

Then, after graduation, she became a member of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and worked as a Reading Clinician on the Cheyenne Reservation in Wyoming. This experience changed her mind about pursuing a law degree...

More Schooling

Instead, she applied for an M.A.T. program at the University of New Hampshire. While there, she trained in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL)...

Teaching

Which enabled her to teach in places as far flung as Switzerland, Ghana, and Japan.

Now Sarah works as an English teacher, curriculum designer, writing center faculty member, and cross country coach for Noble High School, in Maine, where she was a recent recipient of a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
