Dr. Maren Blohm Receives grant from Maryland Native Plant Society

Dr. Maren Blohm

The grant from the Maryland Native Plant Society focuses on gaining a better understanding of heavy metal response in plants by comparing gene expression among populations of Arabidopsis lyrata, which grow on serpentine and non-serpentine soils in Maryland. The AtSAP10 is the gene of focus because of its documented connection to plant tolerance to nickel and zinc.  The funds provided by the grant will be used for plant genotyping.
