Karson Institute's Black History Month Celebration

The Karson Institute Presents: A Century of Black History!

The Karson Institute invites you to join us in celebrating our theme for 2026: "A Century of Black History: Commemorations from 1926-2026." This year we at the Karson are taking a look at the progress throughout the African American history that has paved the way towards a better America. From before the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to after the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, African America has a long-lasting legacy that through all of our support will continue to be celebrated for generations to come.

What is Black History Month?

Black History Month is an acknowledgement of the history, contributions, and achievements of the African-American people. It serves as a celebration of all of the aspects of African-American culture, and how that culture has grown and changed throughout American history. We ask that you please join us at the Karson Institute to celebrate this important moment for the Loyola community.

How Will the Karson Celebrate?

The Karson will be celebrating Black History Month on Feb 24th; 6:00-7:00pm at Loyola University Maryland's McGuire Hall. The Karson calls on all Baltimore community members available to come join the festivities with our Loyola/Notre Dame community with FREE admission. We hope to see you there!
