Biography

Monica Nance is a career educator with 40 years of classroom, central office, and collegiate experience.  Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, she began her educational journey studying elementary education at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.  She is a mom to two adult children and a grandmother to five grandchildren.  She is very active in several educational groups.  She is the President of the Alpha Alpha Chapter of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Incorporated, and a Board Member At-Large for the Missouri Literacy Association.  Monica is an avid reader who loves memoirs and biographical texts.  I love the feel of a real book in my hand, spending hours engaged in someone else’s life.

Monica’s favorite quote that keeps me doing all that I do in the field of education is:  It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken me. Frederick Douglass
