Dr. Rebecca Chisholm

Biography

Dr. Rebecca Chisholm brings over 16 years of experience in urban education, serving in roles including early childhood educator, ESOL teacher, instructional coach, and professional development facilitator within Baltimore City Public Schools. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland, College Park, as well as a Master’s and Doctorate in Education from Johns Hopkins University.

Her doctoral research focused on early childhood educator instructional practices for multilingual learners, and she was recognized as a finalist in the 2021 Johns Hopkins University 3-Minute Thesis Competition with her presentation, "Start Behind, Stay Behind." During her doctoral studies, she also served on the EdD Advisory Committee and continues to support the program through instructor and teaching assistant roles. 

Dr. Chisholm prioritizes involvement in school and community initiatives. Most recently, she played a pivotal leadership role in establishing birth-5 programming and pre-kindergarten accreditation at her current school. Her leadership has been recognized with several honors, including School-Based Teacher of the Year (2010, 2012) and Network Teacher of the Year (2011). She is a graduate of the New Leaders: Emerging Leaders program and holds a Maryland Administrator I certification. Her academic and professional interests focus on equity in instructional coaching partnerships with novice teachers, particularly in support of multilingual learners and early childhood educators.
