Do I have a specific advisor?

Students are assigned an advisor after they have accepted their admission into the program.

What online technology will I need to use?

Inside Loyola is the portal used to access all Loyola online services. Here you can access your Loyola email, Student Planning, and Moodle. Student Planning provides students with the tools to plan and register for their courses. Moodle is Loyola’s course management system and is used to communicate course materials from professors.

Who can help me with a password reset, issues with email or Moodle access, or trouble with logging in?

The Office of Technology Services (OTS) at ots@loyola.edu or 410-617-5555.

What is my student ID number? 


Your seven-digit student ID number can be found in the email sent to you by OTS regarding your student account creation. 

Do I need a student ID card?

All Loyola University Maryland students are required to have a current ID card (Evergreen card) in their possession while on campus. ID cards can be obtained from Student Administrative Services located in Maryland Hall, room 140, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. You can upload a photo for your ID or have your picture taken when you pick up your card.

How do I register my car and where do I park when I am on campus for classes?

There is no fee to register your car or to park on campus (unless parking in Loyola’s paid lot). 

Registration Questions

What is the registration process?

Student Planning allows students to plan courses and, during the online registration period, register for courses. The Office of the Registrar maintains up-to-date information and instructions to guide students through the online registration process. The Graduate Student Planning User Guide is a helpful resource for students as they proceed through the online registration process. Students are encouraged to register early.

How can I access the course schedule?

To access course offerings and schedule:

  1. Log in to your Inside Loyola home page using your username and password. Select the Loyola Self-Service icon.
  2. Select Course Catalogue and then select the term.
  3. Scroll down to Course type and choose your program (Biological Forensics or Forensic Pattern Analysis.
  4. Using this option instead of Subject will include program courses which are housed in other departments (i.e. Writing)
  5. To review course descriptions and prerequisites, put the cursor over the course title and click.
How do I select my courses?

Your academic program plan is your guide to selecting your courses each semester. For help with choosing which electives related to your career focus, please contact the program director directly or through forensicsciencegrad@loyola.edu

How will I know I am registered?

Students can check Student Planning and Moodle (via Inside Loyola) to confirm their course registration.

How do I make a change to my schedule or drop/add a course?

During the open online registration period you can drop or add a course through Student Planning (via Inside Loyola). Please see the Graduate Student Planning User Guide for additional instructions. If online registration is closed, contact the graduate business programs office at forensicsciencegrad@loyola.edu 

Course Questions

Where can I find textbook information?

Textbook listings and bookstore hours of operation can be found at the Loyola University Maryland Official Bookstore.

Where can I find the email address for a professor or staff member?

Your professor will provide their contact information in the course syllabus, which can be found within Moodle. The Forensic Science Directory also lists email addresses for faculty members. 

How do I register for FO 790 Forensic Science Internship course?

Students should contact the internship coordinator, Professor Fried, to have their internship approved.

Payment Questions

How do I make my tuition payment?

Methods of payment include: check, credit card, federal or private loans, or payment plans. For credit card payments, the university accepts MasterCard, American Express & Discover (there is a 2.5% convenience fee for credit card payments). If you are interested in payment plans, they are administered by Nelnet and are available for the Spring and Fall Semesters.

Where can I find information on loans?

Please contact the Office of Graduate Financial Aid.

How do I get a payment receipt?

Official receipts can be printed through Student Planning (via Inside Loyola). For any additional account/payment questions, please contact Student Administrative Services at sas@loyola.edu or 410-617-5047.

Communication Questions

How will I receive ongoing communications from Loyola?

Email messages announcing registration information, upcoming events, etc., are sent to your loyola.edu address. If you have forwarded your loyola.edu mail to your work or home email, be sure the messages are able to get through any firewalls or spam blockers. Professors may post information on Moodle prior to the start of the class, so be sure to monitor this.
