Lucas Southworth: Fiction Reading

Lucas SouthworthLucas Southworth's short stories often incorporate elements of genres such as science fiction, fantasy, fairy tales, and horror, to explore themes such as violence, trauma, voicelessness, and the nature of storytelling. His first collection, Everyone Here Has a Gun, won the Association of Writers and Writing Program’s Grace Paley Prize and was published by University of Massachusetts Press. In addition, he has published over 40 stories in magazines such as Conjunctions, AGNI, Alaska Quarterly Review, Willow Springs, Hayden’s FerryReview, and West Branch. He has also received fellowships and residencies from The Maryland State Arts Council, The Truman Capote Trust, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, The Jentel Artist Residency Program, Monson Arts, and Arteles Creative Center in Hämeenkyrö, Finland.
