Associate Professor Lucas Southworth Awarded Pushcart Prize

Pushcart Prize 2022 Journal CoverLucas Southworth’s short story “The Crying Room,” originally published in the journal Copper Nickel, has been awarded a prestigious Pushcart Prize and will be included alongside other winners in the 2022 Pushcart Anthology: Best of the Small Presses. Each literary journal is allowed a small number of nominations and former prizewinners can also nominate as contributing editors. Judges choose winners from that pool of nominations and award prizes to approximately twenty short stories, twenty poems, and twenty essays each year. Writers consider a Pushcart Prize to be one of the highest literary honors and a career-defining achievement. W. W. Norton & Co. will release the 2022 anthology of winning pieces in December.
