Course Registration Advice from Current Loyola Students

A graduate of the class of 2020, Priyanka Agadi created the video below to help new students normalize and cope with the emotions they experience during course registration, and to offer advice from current Loyola students who have gone through the process of course registration. Priyanka majored in communications with a minor in marketing and was an Evergreen Leader for the Office of Student Leadership and Involvement and a Marketing Intern for Loyola Athletics.

Below you will find important information on course registration, override requests, and withdrawals for each undergraduate term offered at Loyola.

Spring 2026 Registration Dates

• Class of 2026: October 22, 2025
• Class of 2027: October 29, 2025
• Class of 2028: November 5, 2025
• Class of 2029: November 12-13, 2025

6th course registration for the Spring 2026 semester opens November 14, 2025. Students must have electronic sixth course permission from their advisor in order to add a sixth course. 

Once the assigned registration date and time has passed, undergraduate students will be permitted to drop/add courses for Spring 2026 until 11:59 PM, Monday, January 19, 2026 through Student Planning via Loyola Self-Service. NOTE: Loyola University will be closed on January 19th in observance of MLK Jr. Day. 

Spring 2026 Course Override Requests

Students looking to register for a closed (full) spring course may submit a course override request form.

Please submit your override form directly to the department chair. A list of the department chairs is included in the override form. Course instructors do not have authority to grant overrides. 

All course overrides are reviewed by the department chair and are only approved if there are extenuating circumstances. The override request will not be processed if there is a time conflict with your existing schedule, you do not have 6th course permission from your advisor, or if there is a financial or registration hold on your account.

For approved overrides, bring your signed override form to AASC in Maryland Hall 138 for final processing by 5:00 PM, Friday, January 16, 2026.

Please continue to check Student Planning for openings in your desired course.  You will be permitted to drop/add courses for Spring 2026 until 11:59 PM, Monday, January 19, 2026 through Student Planning via Loyola Self-Service. NOTE: Loyola University will be closed on January 19th in observance of MLK Jr. Day. 

Spring 2026 Course Withdrawal

The Spring 2026 withdrawal period begins on January 20, 2026. The deadline for undergraduate students to withdraw from Spring 2026 course(s) with a grade of “W” is Monday, April 20, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. In order to withdraw, students must complete the Change of Registration form with their instructor’s signature and bring it to the Academic Advising and Support Center in Maryland Hall, Room 138 before 5:00 p.m. on April 20, 2026.  During the final two days of the course withdrawal period, AASC may approve a course withdrawal without the signature of the course instructor. 

Student athletes will also need a signature from their athletics advisor, and International Students must consult with Sunanda Bhatia, Director of International Student Services prior to submitting the form. Students are also encouraged to consult with the Office of Financial Aid at 410-617-2576 if they have any questions or concerns about the potential impact of a course withdrawal on their financial aid or scholarship. Most aid and scholarships require students to maintain full-time status (12 credits or more).

Summer 2026 Registration

Students may begin registering for Summer 2026 courses starting at midnight on February 23, 2026, through Student Planning via Loyola Self-Service.

Fall 2026 Registration Dates

• Class of 2027: March 18, 2026
• Class of 2028: March 25, 2026
• Class of 2029: April 15, 2026

6th course registration for the Spring 2026 semester opens July 15, 2026. Students must have electronic sixth course permission from their advisor in order to add a sixth course. 

Once the assigned registration date and time has passed, undergraduate students will be permitted to drop/add courses for Fall 2026 until 11:59 PM, Monday, September 7, 2026 through Student Planning via Loyola Self-Service. NOTE: Loyola University will be closed on September 7th in observance of Labor Day.
