CBC Spouses Education Scholarship

Description

This opportunity awards scholarships to academically talented and highly motivated full-time African-American or Black students pursuing and undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral degrees in a variety of fields.

Requirements

  • Be a U.S. citizen/legal permanent resident
  • Live or attend academic institution in a CBC Members district
  • Be preparing to pursue, or currently pursuing, an undergraduate or graduate degree full-time at an accredited college or university. Current high school seniors are also eligible to apply.
  • Have a minimum 2.5 GPA on 4.0 scale
  • Exhibit leadership and be active in community
  • Selected applicants will be qualified African-American or black students

CBC Spouses Visual Arts Scholarship

  • Deadline: April 30, 2021

Description

This award is for full time African-American or Black students pursuing a degree in visual arts including, but not limited to, architecture, ceramics, drawing, fashion, graphic design, illustration, interior design, painting, photography, sketching, video production and other decorative arts.

Requirements

  • Be a U.S. citizen/legal permanent resident
  • Be preparing to pursue, or currently pursuing, an undergraduate degree full-time at an accredited college or university. Current high school seniors are also eligible to apply.
  • Be pursuing a career in the visual arts with an eligible major
  • Have a minimum 2.5 GPA on 4.0 scale

GMiS Scholarship

  • Deadline: April 30, 2021
  • Amount: $500-$5,000

Description

This award is for any graduating high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student, from a traditionally underserved or underrepresented group in science, technology, engineering, math, or health.

Requirements

  • Applicants must demonstrate merit through academic achievements, leadership, and campus/community activities
  • Applicants must be pursuing a science, technology, engineering, or math degree
  • Applicants must have an overall minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Applicants must be of Hispanic descent and/or must demonstrate significant leadership or service within the underserved community
  • Recipients must be enrolled full-time in a STEM undergraduate or graduate program for the upcoming fall semester, at an accredited 2-yr or 4-yr college/university in the U.S. or its territories.

The Dingwall Foundation Scholarship

  • Deadline: April 1, 2021
  • Amount: Varies

Description

Established by Dr. William Orr Dingwall with the purpose of supporting students in their pursuit of undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in a variety of fields, the foundation oversees the distribution of two scholarship programs

Requirements

  • Applicants must be of Asian ancestry, with at least one Asian grandparent. There is a strong preference for applicants of Korean ancestry.
  • Applicants must have a 3.50 or greater GPA.

Herbert Lehman Education Fund

  • Deadline: April 1, 2021
  • Amount: $2,000 per year, over four years, for a total of $8,000 - provided funds are available

Description

The Herbert Lehman Scholarship is a national, highly competitive scholarship that makes annual awards to qualified, outstanding undergraduate students. Today, the mission of the Herbert Lehman Education Program is to help transform the promise of racial equality into a social, economic, and political reality by supporting talented undergraduate students with financial need to stay in school and successfully complete their bachelor’s degree.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Must be a graduating high school senior, first-year student in an accredited four-year college, or a student transferring into an accredited four-year college, students beginning as a junior are not eligible.
  • Demonstrated financial need - must have a combined family income of $65,000 or less.
  • Record of academic achievement; and
  • Demonstrated commitment to public service.

Norman Brown Scholarship

Description

Dr. Monica Brown founded The Brown Medical and Educational (MAE) Foundation in honor of Dr. Brown’s late mother Mae Brown. The Norman Brown scholarship is named in honor of Dr. Brown's father.

Requirements

  • The Norman Brown Scholarship is for a graduating minority high school student who will be attending a 4-year college or university. 
  • The applicant’s family's income must be at or below the national poverty level based on family size for the current year. (Please check to make sure that you meet the income eligibility before applying. Information can be found on the website for the Department of Health and Human Services). 
  • Citizenship is required.

The Brown Mae Foundation Healthcare Scholarship

  • Deadline: April 30, 2021
  • Amount: Varies

Description

This scholarship is for current college or graduate students who are interested in pursuing a healthcare career (e.g., medical, allied health or nursing).

Requirements

  • Applicants must be an identified member of one of the following groups: Black/African American, Native American/American Indian, Hispanic/Latin American, Asian or Pacific Islander. 
  • U.S. citizenship is required.  
  • Applicant must have a cumulative equivalent GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4-point scale.
  • Applicant must submit an official college/university transcript in a sealed envelope. 
  • Applicant must submit three letters of recommendation.

Brown and Caldwell Minority Scholarship

  • Deadline: April 5, 2021
  • Amount: $5,000

Description

At Brown and Caldwell, we value diversity in the workplace, supporting organizations like the National Society of Black Engineers and the Society for Hispanic Professional Engineers. We also offer a $5,000 Minority Scholarship to support students who identify as minorities and are interested in pursuing a career in the environmental profession.

Requirements

  • A United States citizen or permanent resident.
  • A full-time student enrolled in his/her Junior, Senior year or graduate program at an accredited college/university.
  • Declared major in civil, chemical, mechanical, electrical or environmental engineering or one of the environmental sciences (e.g., geology, hydrogeology, ecology).
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent on a 5.0 scale).
  • Identify as a member of a minority group (e.g., African American, Hispanic, Asian, or Pacific American or Alaska Native).

Mae & Mary Scholarship

Description

MAE & MARY SCHOLARSHIP FUND is dedicated to the advancement of African Americans in the medical and health care profession. Its mission is to financially assist exceptional students who despite hardships in their lives have demonstrated commitment, perseverance, and enthusiasm in continuing their education.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be African American students
  • Applicants must be graduating High School Seniors
  • Students from anywhere in the United States can apply 
  • Applicants must attend a two/four-year university or technical school
  • Scholarship awards must be used for tuition, books, fees, or other need while attending the institution

Brown and Caldwell Women in Leadership Scholarship

  • Deadline: April 5, 2021
  • Amount: $5,000

Description

At Brown and Caldwell, we value equality in the workplace, supporting the great work of organizations like the Society of Women Engineers. We also offer a $5,000 Women in Leadership Scholarship to support female students that are interested in pursuing a career in the environmental profession.

  • A United States citizen or permanent resident.
  • A full-time student enrolled in his/her Junior, Senior year or graduate program at an accredited college/university.

2021 Esperanza Education Fund Scholarship

  • Deadline: April 1, 2021
  • Amount: $5,000-$20,000

Description

The Esperanza Education Fund will award scholarship for students to attend public colleges or universities or community colleges.

Requirements

  • Applicant must be born outside the U.S. or have two parents born outside the U.S.
  • Applicant must be planning to enroll full-time at an accredited public college or university in the academic year the award is offered.
  • Applicant must be either a graduating senior at a high school in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia or a recent GED grad residing in DC, Maryland, or Virginia.
  • Applicant must have a family income of less than $100,000 in 2020.
