Loyola Educating Neurodiverse Students (LENS) Program
Loyola University Maryland appreciates the uniqueness of every student and strives to provides a welcoming and supportive environment for all students. Recognizing some neurodivergent students could benefit from additional, customized support to live and learn at the university, led to the development of Loyola Educating Neurodiverse Students (LENS) and other programs for neurodivergent students.
LENS
is an optional fee-based program designed to provide holistic support to help neurodivergent students transition into Loyola and flourish once here. LENS provides services beyond the accommodations students are entitled to through Disability and Accessibility Services.
The program’s custom support focuses on academic skills, community building, emotional and physical well-being, and career development.
LENS helps students build skills, confidence, and connections. Support includes structured individual coaching and group activities in a small cohort of 8–10 students. Weekly events are scheduled, and LENS will arrange a nightly study table in a low-sensory environment where students can drop in to study with peers.
A unique feature is an optional lighter course load (12 credits) during the semester, plus free enrollment in two summer courses. This underloading approach allows students to manage academics, fully engage in LENS activities, and stay on track for graduation.
LENS is $2000 per semester. These fees cover one-on-one weekly coaching, meals, event tickets, and activities. To get more information, please contact Marcia Wiedefeld. To register for LENS, please complete this application.
