Housing Operations Summer Intern

HOUSING OPERATIONS SUMMER INTERN - Summer 2022
Essential Job Functions:
Utilize the housing management software (StarRez) to complete tasks/projects
Coordinate the arrival of over 1,100 Fall early arrivals, both individual and groups.
Serve as primary liaison for Loyola offices requesting student early arrivals
Serve as the primary point of contact for all first-year students and early arrival students
Manage multiple office related email accounts and phones
Coordinate the collection, cataloging, and redistribution of all residence hall keys and serve as a point of contact for Event Services/Summer Conferences staff
Track all billing for key and early arrival related issues
Support students and parents with transition to college, answering questions by phone and email
Assist with completing student assignments for summer housing and the academic year
Facilitate presentations at New Resident Orientation sessions and Training sessions for staff and campus constituents
Attend all staff and individual meetings as scheduled
Work in the Student Life Office for approximately 30-35 hours between 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday
Maintain a flexible schedule during the month of August to support pre-fall/early arrivals
Adhere to all University policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Must be enrolled at Loyola University Maryland for subsequent academic year
Must be in good conduct & academic standing, having a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5
Intermediate to advanced computer and technical skills
Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the unique aspects of the University living experience
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Knowledge about various college student experiences and challenges
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate peers
Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitive information

SUMMER RESIDENT ADVISORS (RAs) - Summer 2022
Essential Job Functions:
Summer RAs must attend mandatory Summer RA Training at the start of the summer
Summer RA will work 8 hours per week within the Office of Student Life
Summer RAs will be co-supervised by the Student Life Program Assistant and Summer Housing GRC
During Office Hours Summer RAs are responsible for answering the telephone, performing administrative tasks, answering housing questions, and taking care of day-to-day office needs as assigned by any professional staff member.
Summer RAs are expected to foster a sense of community on their assigned floor and develop positive relationships with residents. This cannot be accomplished without spending an adequate amount of time within the residence hall. It is expected that the Summer RA will not be away for more than two weekends out of the month.
Any vacation plans longer that one week must be approved by the Office of Student Life
prior
to summer employment.
Summer RAs are expected to be present during Summer I Session and Summer II Session Opening and Closings, as well as, the summer to fall transition days to fulfill all assigned responsibilities associated with openings and closings
Summer RAs are required to participate in weekly duty assignments. This includes:
Staying in Residence Hall between 8 pm – 8 am on assigned duty nights
Completing community walks. Upon completion of each community walk, Summer RAs are expected to complete the appropriate portion of the duty log, noting any maintenance issues, lock outs, and policy violations.
Summer RAs must make door decorations for each resident on the floor at the start of the summer, maintain the door decorations and change the door decorations as appropriate in accordance with housing changes.
Summer RAs are responsible for changing bulleting boards once per summer session
Summer RAs are expected to attend bi-weekly 1:1 meetings with their supervisor to discuss upcoming programs, residential concerns, and other related issues
Summer RAs are expected to attend, participate, and be attentive during bi-weekly staff meetings
Summer RAs are expected to conduct room inspections during Summer I and Summer II
Summer RAs are expected to respond to all emails from the Summer Housing GRC, AD, and other Student Life Staff members within 24 hours of being sent unless previously notifying the GRC and/or other Student Life Staff members of extenuating circumstances
Summer RAs are expected to complete any assigned paperwork, administrative tasks, and any additional job responsibilities as dictated by the Summer Housing GRC and other Student Life Staff in an appropriate and timely manner. In addition, Summer RAs are expected to aid the Office of Student Life with administrative tasks when necessary
Summer RAs are expected to abide by, as well as, enforce the Community Standards, confronting and documenting all violations of the Community Standards appropriately
Summer RAs are expected to complete all other duties as assigned by their supervisor and Student Life Professional Staff
Qualifications:
Must be enrolled at Loyola University Maryland for subsequent academic year
Must be in good academic standing, having a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5
Summer RAs may not have any outside commitments exceeding 20 hours per week, unless approved by the Office of Student Life. Summer RAs should be aware that, other than classes, additional internships, jobs, extracurricular activities, etc. must be arranged around the Summer RA schedule.
Individuals with full time summer jobs or internships must be given special approval by the Office of Student Life to be a Summer RA.
If schedules are still being solidified at the time the application is due, please note that in your application and be prepared to discuss your potential plans at the time of your interview.
Individuals are expected to submit their summer class schedule and outside activities schedule at the time of application and/or when interviewed.
