Position Graduate Assistant for Student Leadership & Development
Hours and Wages

Position Schedule: 2025-26 academic year. 

Renumeration: Student compensation will be $18/hour for 11 hours per week. It will average out to about $7,680 for the academic year. 

Position Term: August 11, 2025 - May 15, 2026. Start date flexibility is possible at request. 

Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled as a degree seeking graduate student at Loyola University Maryland. 
  • Experience with developing and facilitating student leadership and/or anti-racism or racial justice curriculum.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication, organization, detail-oriented, and data management skills. 
  • High cultural competency required. Must demonstrate skills and knowledge in supporting the needs of undergraduate students who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and Other People of Color). 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel strongly preferred. 
  • Experience and interest in community service, service-learning, community engagement, community organizing or social justice work. 
  • Ability and willingness to work with community partners, students, faculty, and campus partners. 
Scope and Responsibilities

The position will support initiatives for CCSJ + YRI's student leadership cohorts including but not limited to its undergraduate student employees and fellowship recipients. The position will primarily support the CCSJ Assistant Director for Student Leadership & Development with implementing a holistic student support model. 

Position Duties

1. Support France-Merrick scholars with community engagement placements and provide regular development opportunities on topics such as civic participation, place-based community engagement efforts and career readiness. 

2. Support the recruitment, interview and selection efforts for the department's 2025-2026 undergraduate student intern team. 

3. Assist with the implementation of a racial justice/anti-racism training model for the department's student leaders through administrative support. This can include but is not restricted to: 

    • Sending out calendar invites and tracking attendance
    • Attending the racial justice training once a month
    • Sharing meeting notes and meeting with students who were absent to go over any missed material
    • Creating learning assessment tools and evaluating the data collected
    • Participating in facilitation spaces and/or reading groups
    • Researching learning activities and tools for students to engage with independently (local events, online videos, journal articles, etc.)
    • Developing strategies for recruiting unpaid student leaders for special project initiative (ex: immersion trips, day long service projects, etc.)

This position will report to the Assistant Director for Student Leadership & Development and ongoing support will be provided.
