Research Areas
Dr. Chavez joined the Loyola accounting faculty in 2021. Her research agenda lies in the financial and social accounting areas, primarily focusing on gender diversity in the executive team, corporate social responsibility, social movements, and environmental issues. Her published work examines topics such as the association between gender and performance in the cannabis industry, and the impact of dual-class firm structures on corporate social responsibility. In addition, she and her coauthor detail the environmental accounting landscape in North America, a book chapter in a collaborative effort with colleagues around the world. Her current projects include an examination of how executive language style changes over time based on top management team gender, a qualitative analysis of the Time’s Up/MeToo movement and feminist accountability, an assessment of corporate attention to pollinator decline over changing administrations, and an interdisciplinary paper proposing a conceptual model for organizational public responses to sexual harassment in the workplace. Dr. Chavez enjoys multidisciplinary projects as well as the opportunity to collaborate with coauthors both domestically and internationally.
