Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) Interview Day

Welcome to Loyola University Maryland!

We are pleased that you will be joining us for Applicant Interview Day. You have been chosen from the pool of applicants to participate in this next step of the admission process.  The Interview Day is an important time for the department to gain more information about your individual strengths and talents. We hope that your virtual visit with

Loyola will also give you the opportunity to learn more about the university and our program to assist you in your decisions.

 

Applicants received an email with an individual schedule of interviews and other activities of the day. Please review this schedule carefully, and feel free to email, call, or Zoom Traci Martino if you have any questions (tpmartino@loyola.edu, 410-617-2175, https://loyola.zoom.us/my/tracimartino).

All applicants will begin their day with an information session that provides an overview of the psychology department and the Psy.D. programs requirements. During this session there may be time to ask questions you may have about the program. We ask that you log into Zoom at 8:30 am so that we can check you in for this information session: https://loyola.zoom.us/my/tracimartino

 

All applicants will be participating in the same activities, although at different times throughout the day. The following information may be helpful to you in reviewing your schedule.

I. Information Session

As noted above, this session provides an overview of the Psychology Department and the Psy.D. programs requirements. Again, we ask that you log into Zoom at 8:30 am: https://loyola.zoom.us/my/tracimartino

II. Interviews with Faculty Members

Faculty members in the Psychology Department will be conducting individual Zoom interviews with applicants. Links will be included in your individual schedule. Each interview lasts twenty to thirty minutes.

III. Q&A With Graduate Students and Alumni

Current graduate students and alumni will hold scheduled, small group Q & A sessions with applicants via Zoom. Links will be included in your individual schedule. Please feel free to ask current graduate students and alumni any questions you may have about their experiences at Loyola.

IV.  Small Group Faculty Interview

A group of applicants will meet with faculty members for a small group interview.

V.    Writing Sample

Applicants will receive an email at the time of the scheduled writing sample block with instructions. Applicants will be asked to submit their response to a given prompt, via email, in an attached Word document. 

VI. Lunch Break, Free Time 

During scheduled free time and the lunch break you are welcome to explore the links provided on the Program and University Information Links page. There is information about the program, virtual campus tour, some resources provided through the University, etc.

Fellowships (note that there is not a separate application process to be considered for a fellowship. All applicants being made an offer of admission are considered. If awarded, applicants will be notified in their acceptance letter.)

Graduate Assistantship Information

Please note that there are many departments on campus that hire our psychology graduate students. We will have representatives from many of those departments available to speak with prospective students at the in person Accepted Applicant Day on April 5. Some of the department who hire graduate assistants are: The Study, CCSJ, Campus Ministry, ALANA Services, The Women's Center, both undergraduate and graduate admissions, and more!

Please note that we will hold an in person Accepted Applicant Day on Friday, April 5 from 12p-5p for those applicants who have been extended offers of admission. During that afternoon, accepted applicants will have the opportunity to speak with additional faculty, students and alumni, in addition to representatives from some of the departments across campus who hire our graduate students as graduate assistants. Financial Aid will also be available and students will have the opportunity to tour campus and the Loyola Clinical Centers in Belvedere Square.
