Loyola’s New Faculty Academy (NFA) is a comprehensive, three-year program designed to support your holistic development as a teacher, scholar, and colleague, in alignment with Loyola’s Jesuit mission. Whether you are joining us as tenure-track, teaching, or clinical faculty, the NFA offers a structured pathway to success: a foundational first year focused on orientation and community-building, followed by two years of ongoing support as you progress toward midterm review and beyond.

Program Overview

Year One: Foundation & Community

  • Monthly sessions focused on orientation to Loyola’s values and systems
  • Topics include inclusive teaching, student success, faculty wellness, and scholarly development
  • Opportunities to connect with peers across disciplines

Years Two & Three: Continued Engagement

  • Light-touch programming to support growth toward midterm review
  • Optional peer mentoring, workshops, and follow-up gatherings

2025–26 NFA Session Dates

All session take place on Fridays from 3 - 5 p.m., followed by a social hour.

Faculty who participate in the NFA report feeling more confident, connected, and prepared in their teaching, scholarship, and service. These sessions provide:

  • A strong foundation for midterm and tenure review
  • A space to build community across disciplines
  • Ongoing access to support from Academic Affairs and peers

Who Should Participate?

The NFA is required for all new full-time faculty. If you are a new full-time faculty member and have not received an invitation to particiate, please reach out to Eva Sedgwick, associate vice president for faculty success.
