AMDG Community Award

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam ("For the Greater Glory of God")

The AMDG Community Award was created to recognize Loyola’s staff and administrators from across all areas of the University who exemplify the Ignatian spirit by displaying extraordinary initiative and dedication to Loyola’s mission, vision, and values. Both awards are presented during the Maryland Day Convocation in March. Each recipient of this award will receive a monetary prize of $750.

The award recognizes staff and administrators who display extraordinary initiative and dedication to Loyola’s mission, vision, and values.  This recipient:

  • Demonstrates support for strategic initiative(s);
  • Participates actively in the University community;
  • Commits to engaging others to advance Loyola’s mission;
  • Demonstrates a spirit of going above and beyond; and
  • Embodies Loyola’s core values, as well as the Ignatian spirit that is central to Loyola University Maryland.

2025 Staff Recipient

Yolanda Veale, Student Development

Yolanda supports everyone in the student development division—and always with attentive care and a smile. She is actively involved in the Staff Council and assists at large-scale University events like summer orientation, Fall Welcome Weekend, and student leader trainings. She works with colleagues across the University, thoughtfully fields questions from parents, and is particularly attentive to the needs of students. She manages the student success emergency fund to provide students with access to textbooks, instructional supplies, meals, housing, clothing, technology, campus traditions, travel and other needs. Reflecting on Yolanda’s impact, her leader shared “Students in their most vulnerable moments share their stories with her because of her approachability, kindness, and resourcefulness to get students what they need to be successful. She embodies our strategic vision to be a pre-eminent university for student success.”

2025 Administrator Recipient

Mary Beth Mudric, Undergraduate Studies - Academic Affairs

Mary Beth embodies cura personalis in her work as an advocate for students. As assistant dean for undergraduate students, she embraces her work for students as a vocation, working to ensure that underrepresented populations experience better support and a deeper sense of belonging. Her focus on student wellness and first-year student transition has led to improved retention, a lower number of first-year students on academic probation, and a deeper sense of belonging for students who have historically felt othered at Loyola. Her leadership and campus activism for first-generation students is where she has truly made her mark. She has established first-gen student programming, partnered with all three schools within Loyola to create initiatives and mentorship for first-gen students, and worked with advancement to procure a $25,000 gift for first-generation student programming. With skill and passion, she has helped transform the support network in place for Loyola's growing first-generation student population, focusing on inclusion and increased, wholistic support that is resulting in greater student success.
