Summer Hours

Summer Hours "Early Fridays"

Recognizing the contributions of colleagues across the University, the President’s Cabinet is providing employees with a shortened work week, closing at noon on select Fridays during the summer months. The intent of this benefit is to provide employees more time to spend with their families and friends during the summer months.

Effective Friday, May 29, 2026 through Friday, August 7, 2026, with the exception of June 26, 2026, the University will close at noon on Fridays. Staff will code the four hours off on select Fridays as unscheduled closing.

2026 Summer Hours Schedule

The University will close at noon on the below Fridays during the summer months.

Early Fridays

  • May 22nd (University  Holiday, Full Day Closure)
  • May 29th
  • June 5th

  • July 3rd (University  Holiday, Full Day Closure)
  • July 10th
  • July 17th
  • July 24th
  • July 31st
  • August 7th

*June 26th is a full day of scheduled work due to Summer Orientation. Employees are required to work the full day unless they have supervisory approval for requested time off (sick, vacation, or personal time) for the afternoon hours.

Full time employees who are not at work on an early Friday due to vacation, personal, or sick leave, may code 4.0 hours “unscheduled close” in the timekeeping system for the “early Friday” time off, and 3.5 hours (or 4.0 hours if normally scheduled for 40 hours per week) of vacation, personal, or sick leave.

In order to cover shifts and allow full time shift workers to benefit from early Fridays, supervisors may schedule them to take a different day of the week as their “early Friday” or may provide them with a “delayed holiday” instead.

Workday Early Fridays Request and Approval Process:

  • Biweekly staff must submit a time off request for each Early Friday.
  • Supervisors must approve their time off request for each Early Friday.
  • For assistance, refer to the Workday Knowledge Base for instructions.
