Qualifications

Required:

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program at Loyola University Maryland
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Commitment to our Catholic Jesuit tradition including recognition of the dignity of all peoples

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with data analysis and assessment tools
  • Familiarity with student development theory
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Previous orientation or student leadership experience
Position Duties The JASPA (Jesuit Association of Student Personnel Administrators) Graduate Student Summer Intern will gain hands-on experience in student affairs administration through multiple high-impact projects across the Division of Student Development. This internship provides exposure to assessment, program development, student engagement, and operational management while supporting key initiatives that enhance the student experience at Loyola University Maryland. The Graduate Student Intern will work 20 hours per week over the course of 10 weeks rotating office assignments for specific projects within the division of student development. The intern will be compensated at $20 per hour and will receive housing in an on campus apartment.
Key Responsibilities

Division-Wide Promotional Strategy

Timeline: Late May to Mid-June

  • Catalog promotional items and giveaways planned by each office within the Division for Orientation and Open House events
  • Conduct market research to identify what promotional items current and prospective students value most
  • Develop recommendations to minimize duplicate giveaways across offices and maximize impact

 

Messina Curriculum Assessment & Development

Timeline: July

  • Review and analyze Messina assessment data, including both quantitative and qualitative feedback
  • Draft recommendations and executive summaries based on data findings
  • Collaborate with the Messina team to inform curriculum changes for Spring 2027
  • Assist in reviewing and evaluating enrichment plan submissions
  • Student Integrity and Restorative Justice (SIRJ)

 

Vector Module Implementation Support

Timeline: Thorughout Summer

  • Support the rollout of the SIRJ vector module for incoming and transfer students
  • Send informational emails to students about vector requirements
  • Monitor completion rates and maintain tracking systems
  • Make reminder phone calls to students in late July/early August to ensure compliance

 

LGBTQ+ Student Services Assessment & Resource Development

Timeline: Throughout Summer

  • Analyze Campus Climate survey data specifically related to LGBTQ+ student experiences
  • Create a prioritized list of action items for 2026-2027 academic year
  • Suppory the strengthing of the department's strategic plan by aligning data collection with student support initiatives
  • Develop or enhance resource webpage for LGBTQ+ students, including:
    • Comprehensive list of support services
    • Self-advocacy communication templates for addressing harm (deadnaming, misgendering, etc.)
  • Create social media content calednar highlighting annual LGBTQ+ holidays and dates of significance

 

Orientation Program Support

Timeline: Throughout Summer

  • Develop and deliver training for Evergreen orientation leaders of topics including:
    • Effective communication with students and families
    • Responding to difficult questions
    • The importance and goals of orientation programming
  • Manage orientation logistics including:
    • Student and guest nametags
    • Evergreen name buttons and materials
    • Evergreen talking points documentation
    • Resource fair coordination
  • Design, implement, and analyze orientation assessment tools
  • Compile and summarize assessment data for program improvement
  • Some evening hours may be required.
