B.A./B.S./MAT- 5th Year Master's Degree Program
Undergraduate students from other disciplines who wish to obtain their teacher certification may participate in a five-year program that results in a bachelor's degree within their area of major and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree.

Pathways by Subject Area
Applicants to the program must have a major or significant coursework (27-30 credits) in the following certification areas. We offer certification in grades 7-12 in the following areas:
Biology
Chemistry
Earth/Space Science
English
Mathematics
Physics
Social Studies
We offer PK-12 certification in the following certification areas:
Art
French
Music (vocal or instructional)
Spanish
Program of Study
Students take three graduate-level courses in their senior year which count toward both the bachelor's and master's degrees. Graduate courses taken during the senior year are included in the undergraduate tuition and take the place of undergraduate electives. You will take the MAT courses on a full-time basis beginning the summer following graduation.
