B.A./B.S./M.Ed.-5th Year Master's Degree Program

Undergraduate students may participate in a five-year program that results in a bachelor's degree in their chosen area of major and a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Special Education. This pathway allows students to begin graduate coursework during their senior year and continue into the master’s program after completing their undergraduate degree. The program prepares graduates to support students with mild to moderate disabilities and to apply effective, evidence-based practices that help all learners succeed in the classroom.

Admissions

Loyola B.A./B.S./M.Ed.-5th year students are applicants who are applying to the M.Ed. in Special Education program in order to take graduate courses during their senior year of undergraduate work.

If you are applying as a B.A./B.S./M.Ed.-5th year student, you must select the start term immediately following your anticipated undergraduate graduation date on your application (e.g., if you are graduating undergrad in the Spring, you must select the Summer start term for the M.Ed. in Special Education program).

Program of Study

Students take three graduate-level courses in their senior year, which count toward both the bachelor's and master's degrees. Graduate courses taken during the senior year are included in the undergraduate tuition and take the place of undergraduate electives. You will take the M.Ed. courses on a full-time basis beginning the semester following graduation.
