The School of Education Spring 2022 Continuing Education Course Offerings

Loyola University Maryland’s School of Education is pleased to offer teachers, educators, and counselors graduate-level continuing education courses for professional development and growth or to maintain certification requirements.

The following courses are being offered for Spring 2022:

Clinical Supervision (1 graduate credit)

Dates: January 24 – May 9, 2022

Format: Online, Synchronous

Cost: $650

Description: Students seeking supervision hours toward a LCPC may participate in this group supervision experience. Students are expected to be working with clients, and to bring cases to the supervision class for supervision, discussion, and problem solving. Students will utilize the required forms for supervision as outlined in state requirements for supervision experience. The focus of this supervision experience as case conceptualization and the development of treatment plans. A final written evaluation will be provided to each student to maintain in their records as required to document supervision. Student must complete the three courses to have the required clinical supervision hours. Each course is 1 graduate credit.

Participants must have Maryland LGPC to enroll.

Lauryn’s Law (1 graduate credit)

Dates: February 14 – May 21, 2022

Format: Online, Asynchronous

Cost: $350

Description: This course meets the educational requirements outlined in Lauryn’s Law. Specifically, this course enhances the school counseling practitioners’ knowledge and skills to understand and respond to the social, emotional, and personal development of students, including knowledge and skills relating to: (1) the recognition of indicators of mental illness and behavioral distress, including depression, trauma, violence, youth suicide, and substance abuse; and (2) the identification of professional resources to help students in crisis. This course for school counselors provides a current, interactive overview of these skills and supports participants’ development/acquisition of a resource bank for distribution to parents or guardians, school staff, and students, as appropriate.

Standards-Based Methods and Assessment in Health Education

Dates: March 14 – May 12, 2022

Format: Online, Synchronous

Cost: $975

Description: This course will be based on National and State health education standards, Pre-K-12. It will focus on both content and skills for teaching health education. Lesson planning, participatory methods, differentiation, resources, interactive teaching strategies, and assessment will be explored.
