Faculty, administrators, and staff are key figures in student help-seeking efforts. You are often able to observe students, to be aware of their behavior, and to serve as informal help-givers, sharing advice and support. Although you are not expected to provide counseling, we appreciate the critical role you can play in:

The Counseling Center provides consultation services to assist faculty, staff, and administrators in their efforts to respond to students in distress by providing information and resources about:
- Student concerns and signs of distress;
- Helping students in distress and/or experiencing illness or loss;
- information about campus partners; and
- making a referral to a mental health professional
The Counseling Center does not provide documentation or "excuse notes" for missed classes or assignments. Concerns related to missed classes or assignments should be addressed with the class professor or Office of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies. Students seeking academic accommodations related to their mental health should contact Disability Support Services.

- Kognito is a free online tool for students, faculty, staff, and administrators learn to recognize signs of psychological distress in various student populations. Users learn how to approach students in distress and make appropriate referrals to campus support services through online role-plays and conversations with virtual students. Learners attain interactive practice with challenging conversations related to mental health.
- Interactive Learning Module created by the University of Minnesota that allows participants to effectively identify, engage, and share resources with students who may have mental health concerns.
