What makes me eligible for Post 9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33)?
You may be eligible for education benefits if you meet at least one of these requirements.
At least one of these must be true:
- You served at least 90 days on active duty (either all at once or with breaks in service) on or after September 11, 2001, or
- You received a Purple Heart on or after September 11, 2001, and were honorably discharged after any amount of service, or
- You served for at least 30 continuous days (all at once, without a break in service) on or after September 11, 2001, and were honorably discharged with a service-connected disability, or
- You’re a dependent child using benefits transferred by a qualifying veteran or service member
Note: If you’re a member of the Reserves who lost education benefits when the Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP) ended in November 2015, you may qualify to receive restored benefits under the Post-9/11 GI Bill®.

How do I determine if I'm eligible for the Yellow Ribbon Program?
You may be eligible for this program if you and your school meet these requirements:
- You must qualify for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® at the 100% benefit level.
And at least one of these must be true:
- You served at least 36 months on active duty (either all at once or with breaks in service) and were honorably discharged, or
- You received a Purple Heart on or after September 11, 2001, and were honorably discharged after any amount of service, or
- You served at least 30 continuous days (all at once, without a break) on or after September 11, 2001, and were discharged or released from active duty for a service-connected disability, or
- You’re an active-duty service member who has served at least 36 months on active duty (either all at once or with breaks in service), or
- You’re a spouse using the transferred benefits of an active-duty service member who has served at least 36 months on active duty, or
- You’re a dependent child using benefits transferred by a veteran, or
- You’re a Fry Scholar

What does the Yellow Ribbon Program cover?
The Yellow Ribbon Program ensures that the full cost of tuition and fees are covered, after the Post-9/11 GI Bill® has been applied. If there is a difference between tuition and fees billed for the semester and the amount covered by the Post-9/11 GI Bill®, the VA will pay half of the difference and Loyola University Maryland will cover the remaining half of the difference.

Are there any scholarships offered by the State of Maryland for military-connected students?

What happens if I am called for military duty during the academic school year?
Loyola University Maryland is committed to supporting enrolled students who are members of the Armed Forces (including reserve components).

Can I use my VA benefits when I study abroad?
Loyola University Maryland students using veteran education benefits should contact the University's School Certifying Official (SCO) to confirm whether their international program qualifies for benefit usage.
Students are encouraged to contact the SCO at vabenefits@loyola.edu or 410-617-2347, as well as the Office of International Programs, to explore their options.
Is there an ROTC program on campus?

I have a Maryland National Guard Tuition waiver. Who do I send that to?
To receive this benefit, submit a signed copy of your State Tuition Waiver Letter to David Alexander, 410-617-2185. Students must submit this letter each semester, and they are responsible for the remaining tuition and fees (registration, graduation, lab etc.).
Will I automatically receive my benefits next semester?
No. You must submit a Veterans Benefits Registration form each semester you wish to use your benefits.
